Establishing value added service for mobile phones distributor : case study at United Distribution Company Limited
Abstract:
The objectives of this master project were to develop and test a web-based
application for supporting the marketing campaign called U-Turn. This marketing
campaign had designed to differentiate and add value added services on our products
which are mobile handsets. This web based application enables the customers to trade
their mobile handsets with the brand new one through authorized dealers. The system
also provides the back-end management system for the system administrator to manage
the products and services. Basically, the trade price for the customers could be
determined by the differentiation between the depreciation of the customer handsets and
the market price of the brand new handsets. This web based application was written by
PHP for the source codes and MySQL for the database system with the integration of the
Object-Oriented Programming design concept. The system functions and usability were
tested by 30 system users which were customer users, dealer users, and administrator
users with the test cases and 10 item questionnaires. The outcome of testing was
determined by statistical methods and interpreted by the average or mean value. The
average value of the system was equal to 4.35 (SD = 0.31), which means the system users
agree with the usability of the functions on this web based application.
