Effect of Interpersonal Communication Skills Training Program for Reducing Alcohol Drinking in Ha Zardous use, Namphare Sub District Health Promoting Hospital, Yanghom Tambon, Khuntan District, Chiang Rai Province
Abstract:
Alcohol drinking in hazardous use is a serious social problem that affects both body and mind. Interpersonal Communication Skills Training Program is appropriate for reduce alcohol drinking in hazardous use. The objective of this two-group pre-post test quasi-experimental study was to examine the effect of the Interpersonal Communication Skills Training Program on reducing alcohol drinking in hazardous use. during November 2011 to March 2012. The 16 subjects were purposively selected and assigned to experimental and control group. The subjects were matched by gender, age and AUDIT. The experimental group received the Interpersonal Communication Skills Training Program while the control group received the health education as routine care provided by the Namphare Sub District Health Promoting Hospital. The research instruments consisted of 1) Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT), Cronbachs coefficient at 0.85; and 2) the Program for reduced Alcohol Drinking in Hazardous Use. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, Mann-Whitney U test and Wilcoxon mathed-pairs signed-ranks test design. The results of this study revealed that: 1. Before the experiment Program both the experiment group and the control group were significantly equal of AUDIT score. (P<.05). 2. After the experiment Program at two-week, Hazardous use than the control group. (P<.05). 3. After the experiment Program at two-week, Hazardous drinking in the experimental group was significantly lower mean AUDIT score than that of before (P<.05). 4. The mean AUDIT score of Hazardous use of the control group in Before and after were significantly equal of AUDIT score. (P<.05). The results indicated that Interpersonal Communication Skills Training Program. Could be good interpersonal relationship and effect of depend on Alcohol, release of Alcohol drinking. Therefore, this program should be implemented continually Alcohol Drinking in Hazardous Use.
