Abstract: บทคัดย่อ การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์การศึกษา ๓ ประการ ได้แก่ (๑) เพื่อศึกษาการใช้สื่อธรรมชาติในคัมภีร์พุทธศาสนาเถรวาท (๒) เพื่อศึกษาการใช้สื่อธรรมชาติในการสอนของพระพุทธเจ้า และ (๓) เพื่อศึกษาการใช้สื่อธรรมชาติในการเผยแผ่พุทธศาสนาของพระพุทธเจ้า ผลการศึกษาพบว่า สื่อธรรมชาติในคัมภีร์พุทธศาสนาเถรวาท ตามความหมายของสื่อธรรมชาติในคัมภีร์พุทธศาสนาเถรวาท หมายถึงสื่อที่ปรากฏในรูปของธรรมชาติ ได้แก่ พืช สัตว์ บุคคล และสิ่งแวดล้อม โดยความสำคัญของสื่อธรรมชาตินั้น ทำให้ทราบถึงหลักธรรมคำสอนที่ปรากฏในธรรมชาตินั้นๆ โดยลักษณะของสื่อธรรมชาติเป็นสิ่งที่จับต้องได้ เช่น สัตว์ บุคคล และสิ่งที่จับต้องไม่ได้ เช่น อากาศ เป็นต้น ประเภทของสื่อธรรมชาติในคัมภีร์พุทธศาสนาเถรวาท มี ๔ ประเภท คือ พืช สัตว์ บุคคล และสิ่งแวดล้อม ลักษณะของสื่อธรรมชาติจะช่วยสอนให้มนุษย์รู้จักฝึกตนเอง และปรับสภาพร่างกายและจิตใจให้เข้ากับธรรมชาติ การใช้สื่อธรรมชาติในการสอนของพระพุทธเจ้า กล่าวคือ พระพุทธองค์ทรงมีการใช้สื่อ ๔ ประการ คือ (๑) การใช้พืชเป็นสื่อ เช่น การใช้ส่วนต่างๆ ของต้นไม้ (๒) การใช้สัตว์เป็นสื่อของพระพุทธเจ้า ได้แก่ การใช้สัตว์เลี้ยง สัตว์ป่าและสัตว์ในชาดก (๓) การใช้บุคคลเป็นสื่อของพระพุทธเจ้า เช่น ทรงใช้มนุษย์เป็นสื่อ และ (๔) การใช้สิ่งแวดล้อมเป็นสื่อของพระพุทธเจ้า ได้แก่ การใช้ดิน น้ำ ลม ไฟ เป็นสื่อการสอน ภูเขา แม่น้ำ ผลจากการใช้สื่อธรรมชาติของพระพุทธเจ้า ทำให้ทราบถึงสื่อธรรมชาติและหลักธรรมที่ปรากฏในธรรมชาติ ซึ่งพระพุทธองค์ทรงมีพุทธวิธีในการใช้สื่อและทรงมีเทคนิคตามระดับปัญญาของผู้ฟัง ซึ่งเปรียบได้กับบัว ๔ เหล่า โดยวิธีการสอนสื่อของพระพุทธเจ้า คือการยกอุทาหรณ์และการเล่านิทานประกอบ การเปรียบเทียบด้วยข้ออุปมา การใช้อุปกรณ์การสอน การใช้ภาษา อุบายการเลือกคน และการปฏิบัติรายบุคคล การรู้จักจังหวะและโอกาส มีความยืดหยุ่น กลวิธีแก้ปัญหาเฉพาะหน้าที่เกิดขึ้นได้และจุดมุ่งหมายในการสอนของพระพุทธเจ้าทรงคำนึงถึงผู้ฟังเป็นสำคัญเพื่อให้รู้ตามเห็นจริงในสิ่งที่พระองค์ทรงสอน ลักษณะการสอนของพระพุทธเจ้า ได้แก่ แบบสากัจฉา หรือสนทนา แบบบรรยาย แบบตอบปัญหา การสอนธรรมโดยใช้สื่อธรรมชาติที่พระพุทธองค์ทรงยกตัวอย่างทรงใช้สื่อ ได้แก่ พืช สัตว์ บุคคล และสิ่งแวดล้อม การใช้สื่อธรรมชาติในการเผยแผ่พุทธศาสนาของพระพุทธเจ้า ทรงมีพุทธวิธีการเผยแผ่พุทธศาสนา กล่าวคือ ทรงมีจุดมุ่งหมายในการเผยแผ่ หลักการเผยแผ่ ลีลาในการสอน วิธีการสอน ตลอดจนเทคนิคการสอน ซึ่งได้อาศัยสื่อธรรมชาติเป็นตัวอย่างในการเผยแผ่พระพุทธศาสนาประกอบด้วย ๔ ประการ คือ (๑) การใช้พืชเป็นสื่อในการเผยแผ่พุทธศาสนา (๒) การใช้สัตว์เป็นสื่อในการเผยแผ่พุทธศาสนา (๓) การใช้บุคคลเป็นสื่อในการเผยแผ่พุทธศาสนา (๔) การใช้สิ่งแวดล้อมเป็นสื่อในการเผยแผ่พุทธศาสนาและผลจากการใช้สื่อธรรมชาติในการเผยแผ่พุทธศาสนาของพระพุทธเจ้า ทำให้พุทธศาสนิกชนเข้าใจสภาพความเป็นจริงของธรรมชาติมากขึ้น รวมถึงเห็นคุณค่าของสภาพสิ่งแวดล้อมที่จะช่วยกันดูแล ปกป้อง และนำมาเป็นสื่อการสอนเพื่อให้เข้าถึงธรรมชาติที่เต็มไปด้วยหลักธรรมและเกิดการอนุรักษ์สภาพธรรมชาติและแวดล้อม ทั้งยังช่วยส่งเสริมและเผยแผ่ พุทธศาสนาไปทั่วโลก
