Abstract:
The proposes of this project were to discover and compare the suitability of working posture (evaluated by RULA technique), the fatigue of muscles (evaluated by Standardization Nordic Questionnaire) and the job performance (evaluated by comparing between typing speed and percentage of mistakes).
This research has compared two computer stations -- a normal computer station, known as workstation 1 and the computer station that has been modified by using the ergonomics knowledge, known as workstation 2. The experiment was having 30 people tested their typing skill in 20 minutes in both stations, then compared with the specific variable and evaluated the results. The results were 1) The suitability of working posture, workstation 1 got level 3 and workstation 2 got level 2 which meant that the workstation 2 had suitable working posture than workstation 1. 2) The fatigue of muscles in different 8 parts of body from workstation 1 was higher than workstation 2 with the 95% of confidence level. 3) The speed of typing in workstation 1 was lower than workstation 2 and the percentage of mistakes from typing in workstation 1 is higher than workstation 2, both of the tests has 95% of confidence level. With all the testing, the result had showing that the evaluation of workstation 2 is better than workstation 1
