Bending and Buckling of Nanowires Including the Effects of Surface Stress and Nonlocal Elasticity

Abstract: This thesis presents the bending deformation due to a uniformly distributed load and a buckling load of nanowires with various boundary conditions including surface stress and nonlocaI elasticity effects. The analytical solutions for static displacement and the buckling load of nanowire are derived and compared with those of numerical results obtained by the finite element method. The results indicate that the surface stress and nonlocal elasticity directly affect the displacement and the buckling load of nanowires. The effect of surface stress is that it increases the stiffness of nanowires. Therefore, the nanowires, for all boundary conditions, show stiffer behavior in comparison with the classical Euler beam. The effect of nonlocal elasticity results in either stiffer or softer behavior depending on the boundary conditions. In case of buckling loads, the surface stress increases the buckling load significantly, while the nonlocal elasticity slightly decreases the buckling load. For nanowires, by including both effects of surface stress and nonlocal elasticity, the results indicate that the buckling load is between that of nanowires with surface stress and nanowires with nonJocal elasticity.

Abstract: วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อนำเสนอพฤติกรรมการรับแรงดัดซึ่งมีน้ำหนักกระทำแบบ กระจายและค่าน้ำหนักบรรทุกวิกฤตของเส้นลวดนาโนภายใต้การเปลี่ยนแปลงเงื่อนไขของจุดรองรับ ซึ่งพิจารณาผลของหน่วยแรงที่ผิวสัมผัส (surface Stress) และลักษณะยืดหยุ่นแบบไม่เฉพาะที่ (Nonlocal Elasticity) ร่วมกัน โดยใช้วิธีเชิงวิเคราะห์ในการแก้ปัญหาโดยตรงเพื่อให้ได้คำตอบใน รูปแบบปิด และตรวจสอบคำตอบด้วยวิธีเชิงตัวเลขโดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีไฟไนต์เอลิเมนต์ ผลการศึกษา แสดงให้เห็นว่าหน่วยแรงที่ผิวสัมผัสและลักษณะยืดหยุ่นแบบไม่เฉพาะที่ส่งผลโดยตรงต่อค่าการแอ่น ตัวและน้ำหนักบรรทุกวิกฤตของเส้นลวดนาโน หน่วยแรงที่ผิวสัมผัสจะส่งผลให้สติฟเนสของเส้น ลวดนาโนสูงขึ้น ทำให้เส้นลวดนาโนมีพฤติกรรมที่เข็งขึ้นเมื่อเปรียบเทียบผลจากทฤษฎีคานพื้นฐาน ในทุกเงื่อนไขของจุดรองรับ ในขณะที่ผลของลักษณะยืดหยุ่นแบบไม่เฉพาะที่ทำให้เส้นลวดนาโนมี พฤติกรรมที่แข็งหรืออ่อนได้ ทั้งนี้ขึ้นกับเงื่อนไขของจุดรองรับ เมื่อศึกษาผลของค่าน้ำหนักบรรทุก วิกฤต หน่วยแรงที่ผิวสัมผัสจะส่งผลให้ค่าน้ำหนักบรรทุกวิกฤตสูงขึ้นในขณะที่ลักษณะยืดหยุ่นแบบ ไม่เฉพาะที่จะทำให้ค่าน้ำหนักบรรทุกวิกฤตลดลงเพียงเล็กน้อย สำหรับเส้นลวดนาโนที่พิจารณาผล ของหน่วยแรงที่ผิวสัมผัสและลักษณะยืดหยุ่นแบบไม่เฉพาะที่ร่วมกัน ค่าน้ำหนักบรรทุกวิกฤตจะอยู่ ระหว่างเส้นลวดนาโนที่พิจารณาผลของหน่วยแรงที่ผิวสัมผัสหรือเส้นลวดนาโนที่พิจารณาผลของ ลักษณะยืดหยุ่นแบบไม่เฉพาะที่เพียงอย่างเดียว
