Abstract:
This objective of this study is to the energy consumption in the Dr. Charoen Kanthawong Building at Bangkok University, Kluey Nam Thai Branch, which is used as an office and for education. The 16-storey-building has a utility space area 65,700 sq.m. and was officially inaugurated on April 21, 2005. Its official hours are 07.00-21.00 from Monday-Sunday. The study focuses on the air-conditioning and lighting system to find solutions for saving energy consumption. In Dr. Charoen Kanthawong Building by studying comprehensive information of the building such as quantitative data of energy consumption and expenses. The data is prepared in a table of energy consumption in order to study the trend and analysis of energy consumption in order to find measures and solutions for energy saving in air conditioning system and lighting system in the building and to fine turnover period for all stipulated measures.
The findings of the study related to energy management in the Dr. Charoen Kanthawong Building suggest measures for energy saving in air-conditioning system as follows:
1. Effective usage
1.1 Decrease working hours of water dispenser;
1.2 Decrease working hours of water pump and cooling tower;
1.3 Decrease working hours of air handling unit;
1.4 Change setting of cool water temperature of water dispenser;
1.5 Set appropriate temperature in the air conditioned area;
1.6 Maintenance of cooling tower.
From the above measures in the air conditioning system we can save 204,684 kWh per annum amounting to 466,494 baht per annum.
Measures for energy saving in lighting system are as follows:
From the above measures, in lighting system we can save 212,063 kWh per annum amounting to 740,849 baht per annum. We, therefore, can save 416,747 kWh per annum in air conditioning system and lighting system amounting to 1,207,343 baht per annum.
