Abstract:
HIV-1 subtypes were studied in bloods, saliva and breast milks of
11 HIV positive patients in Thailand by PCR with new designed
primers of env region. Subtype B and subtype E were found in 2
and 9 patients, respectively. The results were identical with those
obtained by sequencing in env region, and were more sensitive
and specific than that by PCR with previously reported primers in
gag region. Detection of HIV-1 from saliva and breast milks were
not sensitive than from bloods but useful to know the roots of
transmissions.
