Abstract: การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีจุดประสงค์เพื่อ 1) เพื่อศึกษาอัตลักษณ์และพื้นที่การศึกษาของนักเรียนไทยที่ศึกษาในโปรแกรมเตรียมความพร้อมเพื่อสอบวัดระดับมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลายของสหรัฐอเมริกาในประเทศไทย 2) เพื่อวิเคราะห์การให้ความหมายของการศึกษาของนักเรียนไทยที่ ศึกษาในโปรแกรมเตรียมความพร้อมเพื่อสอบวัดระดับมัธยมศึกษาตอนปลายของสหรัฐอเมริกาในประเทศไทย 3) เพื่อนำเสนอแนวทางการ พัฒนาพื้นที่การศึกษาในสังคมไทยตามอัตลักษณ์และการให้ความหมายของนักเรียนไทยที่ศึกษาโปรแกรมเตรียมความพร้อมเพื่อสอบวัดระดับ มัธยมศึกษาตอนปลายของสหรัฐอเมริกาในประเทศไทย โดยใช้วิธีการวิจัยได้แก่วิจัยภาคสนาม การศึกษาประวัติชีวิต การสังเกต การสัม ภาษาณ์เชิงลึก การสนทนากลุ่มและการสัมภาษณ์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1. อัตลักษณ์ของนักเรียน GED เป็นอัตลักษณ์ที่มีความเลื่อนไหลและปรับเปลี่ยนตามอิทธิพลของวาทกรรมและอำนาจในพื้นที่ทาง สังคม นักเรียน GED จะก่อ/แสดงอัตลักษณ์ขึ้นเพื่อต่อรองทางอำนาจและสร้างตัวตนในพื้นที่ทางสังคม โดยเป็นการเสนอจุดต่าง สมานจุดร่วม ของกลุ่ม อัตลักษณ์ร่วมของนักเรียน GED ให้ความสำคัญกับเรื่องทัศนคติ ค่านิยมและพฤติกรรมที่มุ่งความเป็นนานาชาติ วิถีชีวิตบริโภคนิยม เน้นสินค้าและบริการราคาแพง อีกทั้งจุดมุ่งหมายทางการศึกษาที่แตกต่างจากการเรียนในโรงเรียนในด้านเวลา รูปแบบการเรียนและ จุดมุ่งหมายทางการศึกษาจึงนำเสนอออกมาเป็นอัตลักษณ์ร่วมของนักเรียน GED ในลักษณะ “เด็กอินเตอร์” “รวย” “เรียนเร่ง (ไม่) รัด” 2. พื้นที่ทางการศึกษาของนักเรียน GED มีความสัมพันธ์กับการแสดงอัตลักษณ์ พื้นที่การศึกษาจึงมีอิทธิพลต่อการเรียนรู้ การให้ ความหมายของการศึกษาและการแสดงอัตลักษณ์ของนักเรียน GED พบว่าพื้นที่ทางการศึกษานักเรียน GED ประกอบด้วยพื้นที่ 2 ลักษณะคือ พื้นที่ทางกายภาพได้แก่บ้าน สถาบันกวดวิชา พื้นที่สาธารณะย่านสยามสแควร์หรือห้างสรรพสินค้าชั้นนำและสถาบันเทิงยามค่ำคืน พื้นที่อีก ลักษณะหนึ่งคือพื้นที่เสมือนโดยใช้เทคโนโลยีเป็นฐานได้แก่ เครือข่ายสังคมออนไลน์ วิทยุ โทรทัศน์ นิตยสารภาษาต่างประเทศเป็นหลัก พื้นที่ที่ พบจะมีทั้งพื้นที่เฉพาะสำหรับนักเรียน GED และพื้นที่สาธารณะ นักเรียน GED จะเลือกพื้นที่ไม่ซ้ำซ้อนกับเด็กไทยแต่นิยมที่จะใช้พื้นที่ร่วมกับ กลุ่มนักเรียนโรงเรียนนานาชาติและผู้มีรายได้สูง 3. การให้ความหมายการศึกษาได้รับอิทธิพลจากอัตลักษณ์และพื้นที่ทางการศึกษาที่นักเรียนปรากฎตัว การให้ความหมาย การศึกษาจะประกอบไปด้วยขั้นตอน การสร้างความหมาย การถ่ายทอดความหมายและการแสดงออกทางความหมายที่มีความเชื่อมโยง กับอัตลักษณ์และพื้นที่ทางการศึกษา นักเรียน GED ให้ความหมายของการศึกษาใน 3 ลักษณะคือ1) การศึกษาคือการพัฒนามนุษย์ซึ่งเน้น ทักษะการคิดและการสื่อสารทางสังคมที่เน้นการใช้ภาษาต่างประเทศ 2) การศึกษาเพื่ออาชีพเน้นความสำคัญกับการศึกษาเพื่อการพัฒนา ทักษะวิชาชีพในการทำงาน 3) การศึกษาเพื่อยกระดับความต้องการทางการเรียนและน่าเชื่อถือในสังคมเป็นการให้ความหมายการศึกษาเพื่อ เพิ่มคุณวุฒิและค่านิยมในการศึกษาต่อและการทำงานโดยให้ความสำคัญกับหลักสูตรนานาชาติและการจบการศึกษาระดับมหาวิทยาลัย 4. แนวทางการพัฒนาพื้นที่ทางการศึกษาเป็นการสร้างพื้นที่การศึกษาบนแนวคิดความหลากหลายทางอัตลักษณ์ ผ่านพื้นที่ทางการศึกษาใน 2 ลักษณะ 1) พื้นที่เสมือนที่ใช้เทคโนโลยีเป็นฐาน 2) พื้นที่กิจกรรมเป็นที่ตั้งโดยมีเป้าหมายเพื่อพัฒนานักเรียน GED ให้มีลักษณะ 4 ประการคือ รู้จักความเป็นไทย ใส่ใจการอยู่ร่วมกัน รู้เท่าทันสื่อเทคโนโลยีและมีความรู้เรื่องการบริโภค วิธีดำเนินการเน้นการสร้างพื้นที่บน เว็บไซต์เพื่อเป็นพื้นที่ประสานงานและเป็นพื้นที่ในการเรียนรู้ให้กับนักเรียน GED การให้ความรู้ผ่านชุดความรู้ที่สอดคล้องกับเป้าหมายของ พื้นที่ทางการศึกษาทั้ง 4 ลักษณะ การดำเนินงานภายใต้ภาคีความร่วมมือในการจัดกิจกรรมและพัฒนาพื้นที่ทางการศึกษาทั้งจากภาครัฐ เอกชน ครอบครัว สถานศึกษาและสถาบันทางสังคม

Abstract: The objectives of this research are 1) to study the identities and academic space of Thai student in GED preparation programs in Thailand 2) to analyze the meaning of education by Thai students in GED preparation programs in Thailand 3) to present guidelines in developing academic space in Thai society according to the identities of and the meaning of education by Thai students in GED preparation program. The research consists of the field research, observation, the in-depth interview, the life history and focus groups in order to present the identities and meaning of education for the development of the academic space in Thai society Findings from research showed that 1. The identities of GED students are incorporating both inconsistency and flexibility as a result of the power of discourse and social space. These identities will be manifested through making negotiations and creating their own identities by means of proposing both the distinctive and collective identities at the same time. According to certain studies, GED students will give more importance on social values and internationalization. They prefer both expensive goods and services. In addition, they also have the different goals from those of the students from formal schools in terms of time, classes, and academic goals through the collective identities of being “international,” “rich,” “quick,” but “happy-go-lucky” students. 2. There is a strong correlation between the academic space of GED students and their identities. The academic space of GED students comprises both the physical space and the technology-based space. The academic space will have a direct impact on the learning behavior, the meaning of education, and the identities of GED students. GED students are not willing to share the same public space with the conventional students from formal schools, but they are willing to share this space with international students and high society consumers. 3. The identities of GED students and their academic space have a major impact on the meaning of education of GED students which includes the generation of the meaning of education, the conveyance of the meaning, and the interpretation of the meaning. The meaning of education of GED students means education for human development, education for careers, and education for aggrandizement. 4. The guideline of academic space is the creation of space on the concept of various identities which includes the technology-based space and the activity-based space. The purpose of this guideline is to engender 4 characteristics in GED students, that is, realizing the national Thai characteristics, paying more attention to social interaction, keeping up with media, and having consumer education. This can be attained by means of a website to give the knowledge that corresponds to the 4 characteristics mentioned. This website is the common space for sharing the information and activities of various sectors including public and business sectors, schools, family, and social authorities.
