Using time series experiment to investigate the effects of using team game tournament technique to develop science learning achievement and social skills of fourth grade students
Abstract:
The paper included two objectives; 1) to compare the science learning achievement and social skills between two groups; the students who were taught by team game tournament technique and students who were taught in normal class, and 2) compare the development of science learning achievement and social skills between the students who were taught by team game tournament technique and students who were taught in normal class. The sample included the 4th grade students. The instrument used was learning management plan by which team game tournament technique was applied. The instrument used to gather data included five sciences achievement inventory which have been characterized in parallel with the validity ranged between 0.856 0.892. Similarly, five social skill inventory in parallel with the validity, ranged between 0.943 0.951 were used. For data analysis, the repeated measure ANOVA and the independent sample t-test were employed. The results showed as follows; 1. The students, in experimental group, who were taught by team game tournament technique, gained higher sciences achievement and social skills than the students in controlled group who were taught in normal class at statistically significant level .05. 2. The students who were taught by team game tournament technique gained higher sciences achievement and social skills than the students who were taught in normal class at statistically significant level .05. The students in experiment group gained higher sciences achievement by 28.229, and social skills by 21.991, whereas the students in control group had the social skill development reduced by 3.841
