The objectives of this study were to investigate and to compare the leader behavior of the academic administrators in basic schools in the view of teachers in schools with the second round external quality assessment in academic year 2006- 2007 under the jurisdiction of the Office of Ubon Ratchathani Educational Service Area 5, according to the result of the quality assessment and the school size.
A total of 1272 teachers from 67 schools with the second round external quality assessment under the jurisdiction of the Office of Ubon Ratchathani Educational Service Area 5 in academic year 2006-2007, were employed as the population of the study. The respondents, selected by means of the proportional stratified random sampling method, included 295 teachers from 56 schools, were used as the sample of the study. The research instrument included 30-question item five-rating scale questionnaire with the reliability coefficient of .84. The statistics used in data analysis were percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test, and F-test.
The research findings were as follows:
1. The overall of the investigation of the Leader Behavior of the academic
administrators in basic schools in the view of teachers in schools with the second
round external quality assessment in academic year 2006-2007 under the jurisdiction
of the Office of Ubon Ratchathani Educational Service Area 5, was found to be at
a high level.
2. The comparison of the opinions of teachers in schools with second
round external quality assessment in academic year 2006-2007 under the jurisdiction
of the Office of Ubon Ratchathani Educational Service Area 5 according to second
round external assessment result, found that the Leader Behavior of the academic
administrators in work dimension was higher than relation dimension. Both the Leader Behavior of the academic administrators in work dimension aspect and in general showed no difference, while the Leader Behavior of the academic administrators in relation dimension were statistically different at level .05.
3. The comparison of the opinions of teachers in schools with secondround external quality assessment in academic year 2006-2007 under the jurisdiction of the Office of Ubon Ratchathani Educational Service Area 5 according to school sizes, found that the opinions of teachers in schools with different sizes toward the Behavior of the academic administrators in work dimension was higher than relation dimension in general with statistically different at level .05. In the dual comparative analysis by the Scheffé method, found that medium-sized schools had the average scores higher than small-sized schools, and big-sized schools had the average scores higher than small-sized schools as well. When consider in each aspect, it found that there was no difference for the relation dimension aspect according to school size. For the work dimension aspect according to school size, there was statistically different at level .05. In the dual comparative analysis of the Leader Behavior of the academic administrators in aspect of work dimension according to a pair of schools size by the Scheffé method, found that the medium-sized schools had the average score in work dimension higher than the small-sized schools, and the big-sized schools had the average score in work dimension higher than the small-sized schools too.
