Abstract: การศึกษาครั้งนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อการศึกษาการใช้หนังสือภาพเพื่อจูงใจและส่งเสริมการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อความเข้าใจเปรียบเทียบกับการใช้บทอ่านอย่างเดียวของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 โรงเรียนบานนาจาน อำเภอพิบูลมังสาหาร จังหวัดอุบลราชธานี จำนวน 46 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการศึกษาประกอบด้วยบทอ่านและหนังสือภาพภาษาอังกฤษ แบบทดสอบก่อนและหลัง แบบสอบถามวัดแรงจูงใจ สถิติที่ใช้วิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ค่าเฉลี่ย (Mean) ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน (S D) และ การทดสอบค่าที (t-test) ผลการวิจัยพบว่า หนังสือภาพภาษาอังกฤษสามารช่วยให้นักเรียนพัฒนาทักษะการอ่านภาษาอังกฤษเพื่อความเข้าใจของนักเรียนมากกว่าบทอ่านอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ 0.01 นักเรียนมีเจตคติต่อการใช้หนังสือภาพ และกระตุ้นความเข้าใจในการอ่านในระดับดี The purpose of this study was to study the use of picture books to promote and motivate students’ reading Comprehension compared with plain texts. The subjects consisted of 46 Mathayom Suksa 1 students at Ban Najan School, Pibunmongsahan district, Ubon Ratchathani province. The instruments used in the investigation included lesson plan, picture books, pre-test posttest, and questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed by using mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The research findings were as follows: The study indicated that pictures books were significantly more effective in promoting the students’ reading comprehension at .01 level of significance. The students’ attitude towards using picture books to promote and motivate students’ reading comprehension was found to be at a good level.
