Abstract: บทความนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อชี้ให้เห็นถึงความสำคัญในการพิจารณาปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมในขบวนการพิจารณาวัฏจักรชีวิตของโครงสร้าง ทั้งนี้เพราะปัญหาทางสิ่งแวดล้อมได้สะสมและเติบโตขึ้นอย่างรวดเร็ว และอุตสาหกรรม การก่อสร้างเป็นสาเหตุหนึ่งของปัญหา ฉะนั้นจึงมีการเรียกร้องจากหลายๆ ฝ่ายให้ผู้ที่เกี่ยวข้องค้นหาแนวทางในการก่อสร้างแบบใหม่ที่เป็นมิตรกับสิ่งแวดล้อม และสิ่งเหล่านี้ต่อมาก็ได้รับการตอบรับจากหลายๆ ฝ่ายเป็น อย่างดี เช่น การออกข้อแนะนำในการก่อสร้างอาคารที่เป็นมิตรต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม แต่อย่างไรก็ตามสิ่งเหล่านี้ยังไม่สามารถครอบคลุมถึงปัญหาสิ่งแวดล้อมที่เกี่ยวข้องกับโครงสร้างได้ทั้งหมด เพราะว่าปัญหาเหล่านี้ไม่ได้เกิดขึ้นขณะที่ก่อสร้างเท่านั้น แต่ยังเกิดขึ้นตลอดอายุการใช้งานโครงสร้าง ดังนั้นในการพิจารณาปัญหาทางสิ่งแวดล้อมที่เกิดจากโครงสร้างควรที่จะต้องกระทำตลอดอายุการใช้งานโครงสร้างเช่นกัน

Abstract: The objective of this paper is to indicate the importance of considering environmental problems in the process of life cycles of structures. This is because environmental problems have been drastically and the construction industry is supposed to be one of the key factors of those problems. Hence, there is a call from the socicty for the responsibility of the construction industry. Recently, several standards guiding for environment friendly construction are launched. Those standards mostly recommend considering the environmental impacts at the construction stage. However, this is not enough, because the environmental impacts can occur any time from the beginning to the end of service life. Hence, in order to consider environmental problem due to the structure construction the assessmant should be conducted over the structure longevityaccumulating and growing,
