Abstract:
The purposes of the study were to investigate the current situations and problems related
to teacher development of Group 2 private elementary schools under the Bangkok Education
Service Area 1 as seen by the teachers and administrators in 9 areas of teacher development
namely; orientation, training, field study, seminar, further study, workshop, information
dissemination, coaching and producing academic work. Sample of the study was 338 teachers and
administrators by means of stratified and random sampling. The instrument used was a
questionnaire and checklist with 100 per cent turn in.
Results of the study showed that schools had managed to develop teachers in all nine
areas. Comparing in terms of position of the respondents, it was found that teachers, in general,
had some problems on the area of producing academic work more than administrators.
Comparing in terms of experience and educational background of the respondents, it was found
that the lower qualified and less working - experience teachers and administrators, had some
problems on the area of training, information dissemination, and producing academic work.
