Abstract:
At widespread high risk pregnant women has been resulted in the developmental technology and pregnant women behavior. Pregnant women and fetus have an opportunity to trauma and die in antenatal, intrapartum and postpartum period. Not only effect in physiological but also in psychological. Therefore, the researchers interested in studying stress and coping behavior in high risk pregnant women and the relationship between its. The subjects were 142 high risk pregnant women who have prenatal care at antenatal unit care ,Uttaradit Hospital. Samples were selected by purposive sampling. The research instruments used for data collect was a questionnaire consisting of a Demographic Data, Stress : health status, communication to health provider, self-image, emotion and family status and Coping behavior : problem-focused coping and emotion- focused coping. The research instruments developing by the researchers, based on White and Lazarus Coping Model . Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson, s product moment correlation coefficient. The major results revealed that :
1) The subjects had moderate level total score of stress. Considering each aspect of such behaviors. It was found that health status was in high level score. Communication to health provider and emotion were in moderate level score, whereas, self-image and family status had low level score.
2) The subjects had high level total score of coping behavior. Considering each aspect of such behaviors. It was found that problem-focused coping and emotion- focused coping were in high level score; and
3) There was a significantly positive correlation between total score of stress and coping behavior at .01 level .
These findings thus suggested that nurses should be have nursing care standard in high risk pregnant women by evaluating in stress and coping behavior to find stress level and coping behavior. Each high risk pregnant women have different stress and coping behavior. Health care provider should be aware to promoting coping behavior in high risk pregnant women in order to increase their effective pregnant.
