Problem of Nursing Practicum in Nursing Care of the Adult 3 and Nursing Care of the Adult and Eldery 2 in Boromarajonani College of Nursing , Uttaradit.
Abstract:
The descriptive study was designed to examine and compare nursing students problems during practices in a Nursing Care of the Adult III and a Nursing Care of the Adult and Elderly II subjects at Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Uttaradit. The participants consisted the 62 third year nursing students in bachelor program and the 80 second year nursing students in continuing program, Academic year 2004. Research instruments were questionnaires developed by the researchers and has been tested for their validity and reliability. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and t-test statistics.
Major findings were as follow:
1. Mean score of nursing students problems during practices both subjects as a whole was at low level (X= 1.99, S.D.= 1.09).
2. Mean score of nursing students problems during practices both subjects in the aspect of teaching and learning was at the highest level (X= 2.22, S.D. = 1.16).
3. Mean score of nursing students problems during practices of each subject as a whole was not different, however, in the aspect of teaching and learning in a Nursing Care of the Adult and Elderly II subject was at higher level than a Nursing Care of the Adult III subject significantly at .05 level and similarly results found in the aspect of colleagues, equipments, and patients and family at .01 level.
4. Mean score of nursing students problems during practices both subjects in Uttaradit Hospital and the General Hospitals was different significantly at .001 level.
5. Mean score of nursing students problems during practices in a Nursing Care of the Adult and Elderly II subject between the Intensive Unit of Surgery and the Intensive Coronary Unit at Uttaradit Hospital was not different.
6. The highest mean score of nursing students problems during practices in a Nursing Care of the Adult III subject found in the nursing students with GPA 1.00-2.50 (X=2.06, S.D.=1.16).
The results of this study should be used for planning the nursing practicum to enhance nursing students confidence in performing nursing care. Finally, clients will receive the good care from nursing students as well.
