Effects of Developing Teacher Program on Teaching Profession Attitudes and Teacher Characteristics of Prospective Nursing Instructors in Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Saraburi
Abstract:
A Quasi-experimental research research, one group, pre-post test design was conducted to measure the effects of Developing Teacher Program on Teaching Professions Attitudes and Teacher Characteristics of Prospective Nursing Instructors in Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Saraburi. The 54 samples were recruited from the first to third year nursing students. Instruments in this study were composed of an instrument used in the intervention and two questionnaires employed to collect data. The tool of this intervention was a Developed Self-actualization for Nurse Instructor Program. The two questionnaires for data gathering were Teaching Professions Attitude Questionnaire (TPAQ) and Teacher Characteristics of Prospective Nursing Instructor Questionnaire (TCPNIQ). The reliability values of TPAQ and TCPNIQ were .72 and .97 respectively. The descriptive statistics and Dependent t-test were conducted to analyze the data with the p-value at .05.
The major findings of this study indicated that the average score of teaching professions attitude and teacher characteristics of prospective nursing instructors in post test were significantly greater than pre-test (p=.05). This study suggests that teaching professions attitude of prospective nursing instructors should be promoted during their classrooms. In order to enhance worthiness of nursing instructor. Furthermore, the role of teaching assistance should be continually promoted in order to prepare and evaluate teaching capacity among the prospective nursing instructors. The preparation will increase their confidence, knowledge, and teaching skills.
