Abstract:
This quasi-experimental study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the
reduction of clinical procedures in Well Baby Clinics at community hospitals in
Nonthaburi province, to increase job satisfaction and service satisfaction following the
Criteria and Administrative Method for Good Governance Reform B.E. 2546. The
specific objectives were to compare the steps and duration of service, job satisfaction
and service satisfaction before and after the reduction of clinical procedures.
This research was conducted in Well Baby Clinics at 5 community
hospitals in Nonthaburi Province. For procedure reducing, the researcher applied the
empowerment and A-I-C processes. Job satisfaction was evaluated from all 24 health
personnel working at Well Baby Clinics by interviewing them and service satisfaction
was evaluated from 278 randomly selected parents or relatives of children by the same
process.
The results showed that the empowerment and A-I-C processes could be
used to reduce service procedures in Well Baby Clinics at community hospitals. It was
found that all of the community hospitals reduced the procedures to the same 6 steps.
The service duration after procedure reduction significantly decreased (p<0.001) from
65 minutes to 34 minutes. Job satisfaction among health personnel significantly
increased (p<0.001) and service satisfaction also significantly increased (p=0.009).
This research indicated that it was advantageous to reduce service procedures in Well
Baby Clinics at community hospitals. Procedure reduction improved the quality of
service and increased the satisfaction of both health personnel and parents or relatives
of children. Similarly, clinical procedures should be reduced at other clinics in other
community hospitals.
