Abstract:
This research aimed to study organizational culture in learning organizations.
The sample consisted of 30 personnel drawn from the 200 public companies in
Thailand who were specialists in organizational culture. The instrument for the
research was an interview form designed by the researcher. Data was analyzed by
content analysis. The statistical method used in the research was frequency
distribution.
A good organization culture affected the development of a learning
organization in these ways: a team; being eager to learn and exchange knowledge;
developing selfdirected learning; being determined to succeed at work and having
aims; having a good attitude to work and the organizations; and being creative. The
sample thought that eagerness to learn, selfdirected learning, and having a good
attitude and good knowledge application rank as the most important qualities for
organizational culture in the development of a learning organization and these
qualities needed to be exercised regularly. They thought that activities to promote
organization culture could best be done through the provision of internet and intranet ,
opportunities for exchange of knowledge and opinions both within and outside the
organization, rewards for good work opportunities to present it, and staff training.
Also recommended were the provision of a library and books corner for small group
meetings which would let staff together as a team, printed media to provide
information, the establishment of working groups, entertainment activities and sport,
job observation for staff outside the organization, external seminars, voice activities,
activities with other organization, multimedia for training, and education funds. The
sample thought that management were most influential in the creation of organization
culture.
