Abstract: การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงปริมาณ เพื่อศึกษาปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อโอกาสทางการศึกษาต่อของบุตรหลังจบ การศึกษาภาคบังคับ โดยใช้ข้อมูลทุติยภูมิจากการสำรวจในปี 2004 ของโครงการศูนย์ศึกษาประชากร มหาวิทยาลัย แห่งชาติลาว เฉพาะในเขตยากจนที่สุดของ เมืองสังทอง นครหลวงเวียงจันทน์ มีจำนวน 498 ตัวอย่าง เพื่อศึกษา ลักษณะทางประชากร การศึกษา และเศรษฐกิจของครัวเรือนใช้สถิติถดถอยเพื่อหาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างตัวแปร ต่างๆ กับโอกาสทางการศึกษาต่อของบุตรชาย และบุตรหญิง การวิเคราะห์จากแบบจำลองที่ 1 เป็นการพิสูจน์ว่าปัจจัยใดบ้างที่ส่งผลต่อโอกาสทางการศึกษาต่อ ภายหลังจบการศึกษาภาคบังคับของบุตรชาย พบว่า ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อโอกาสทางการศึกษาของบุตรชาย คือ การศึกษาของพ่อและการศึกษาของแม่ กล่าวคือถ้าหากพ่อและแม่จบการศึกษาระดับชั้นประถมศึกษา บุตรชายจะมี โอกาสทางการศึกษาต่อเพิ่มขึ้น เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับกับระดับการศึกษาที่ไม่จบชั้นประถมศึกษาของพ่อแม่ที่ระดับ นัยสำคัญทางสถิติ 0.05 การวิเคราะห์จากแบบจำลองที่ 2 เป็นการค้นหาปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อโอกาสทางการศึกษาต่อ ภายหลังจบการศึกษาภาคบังคับของบุตรหญิง พบว่า อายุของพ่อ รายได้ ความชอบในเพศบุตร และการศึกษาของ แม่ มีความสัมพันธ์ กล่าวคือ ถ้าหากพ่อมีอายุเพิ่มขึ้นและรายได้ของพ่อแม่รวมต่อเดือนเพิ่มขึ้นบุตรหญิงจะมี โอกาสทางการศึกษาต่อเพิ่มขึ้น อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ และครอบครัวที่ “ไม่เลือก” เพศของบุตร ส่งผลให้บุตร หญิงมีโอกาสทางการศึกษาเพิ่มขึ้น อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ และสำหรับการศึกษาของแม่พบว่า แม่ที่จบการศึกษา ระดับประถมศึกษาบุตรชาย จะมีโอกาสทางการศึกษาต่อเพิ่มขึ้น เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับแม่ที่ไม่จบการศึกษาชั้น ประถมศึกษา ที่ระดับนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ 0.05 จากการศึกษาครั้งนี้มีข้อเสนอแนะว่า รัฐและหน่วยงานที่รับผิดชอบเกี่ยวกับการศึกษา ต้องจัดการศืกษา และประกันการได้รับโอกาสทางการศึกษาอย่างมีคุณภาพและเท่าเทียมกันของเค็ก พร้อมทั้งเอาใจใส่เป็นพิเศษต่อ กับการศึกษาของเด็กหญิง และลบล้างความไม่เสมอภาคทางเพศต่อกับการได้รับโอกาสทางการศึกษาในทุกๆ ระดับชั้นเรียน ทุกเขตการศึกษา โดยเฉพาะในเขตพื้นที่ยากจนของลาว

Abstract: This research used a quantitative approach aimed to investigate factors affecting educational opportunities among children after they finished the compulsory primary school level. Secondary data collected by the Population Studies Centre at the National University of Laos were analyzed. 498 people who live in the poorest area of the Sangthong district were the research samples. Logistic Regression Analysis was employed for investigating the relationship among demographic, educational and economic variables and educational opportunity among children Findings from Model I, which was analyzed to find influential factors of educational opportunity among sons, showed that the education of the father and the mother were the main influential factors. If a son’s parent had finished a primary level of education, the son was more likely to have an opportunity for getting a higher education than those born of uneducated parents at a statistical significant level .05. Findings from model II, which was done to find influential factors of educational opportunity among daughters showed that the age of the father, household income, a preference for a daughter and the education of the mother were important factors. Older fathers and a greater household income statistically increased an educational opportunity for daughters. Parents who had no sex preference statistically generated more chance for their daughters to get a higher education. In terms of the education of the mother, sons of mothers who were educated through the primary level were more likely to have an opportunity for getting a higher education than those of uneducated mothers at statistical significant level .05. Findings from the research lead to suggestion that the Lao government and concerned educational agencies should provide and guarantee equal educational opportunity among children, especially for girls, in order to eliminate gender inequality and provide equal educational opportunities, especially in the poor areas of Lao P.D.R.
