Performance evaluation of three representative models of B2C E-business

Abstract: The purpose of this research was to evaluate the performance of various ebusiness models especially Business to Consumer models (B2C). Three B2C models were chosen for study since the three models are the most commonly used B2C ebusiness systems at present. The three models were an online bookstore representing an online retailing model and an online auction and an online car rental representing online service models. The workloads were generated by customer behavior model graphs (CBMG) constructed by percentage of frequency functions. The experimental results showed that the workload of each e-business model had a different effect on the overall performance. The metrics used were the maximum number of concurrent users, the average response time, the average throughput and the resource usage. It was found that the performance of the car rental model was the best while the performance of the online bookstore model was better than that of the auction model. These findings suggest that the accuracy of the performance evaluation of ebusiness models depends on their workload. Thus, workload generations for performance evaluation should use real workloads.

Abstract: การศึกษาครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเกี่ยวกับการวัดประสิทธิภาพของระบบการค้าอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ที่แตกต่างโดยจะเลือกเฉาพะการค้าอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ในรูปแบบของผู้บริโภคกับธุรกิจสามรูปแบบที่มีมากที่สุดในปัจจุบันและมีความแตกต่างกันที่ชัดเจนคือ การขายสินค้าออนไลน์ การประมูลสินค้าและการให้บริการซึ่งจะทำการทดลองในตัวแทนของรูปแบบ สามรูปแบบคือ การขายหนังสือออนไลน์ การประมูลสินค้าออนไลน์และการเช่ารถออนไลน์ ทำการสร้างปริมาณรายการที่ทำการทอสอบโดยใช้เทคนิคของรูปแบบกราฟพฤติกรรมของลูกค้าซึ่งคำนวณมาจากร้อยละของการทำงานในแต่ละขั้นตอนของระบบ ผลการทดลองพบว่าพฤติกรรมลูกค้าของแต่ละรูปแบบมีผลต่อประสิทธิภาพของระบบที่แตกต่างกันทั้งในแง่ของจำนวนลูกค้าสูงสุดที่รองรับได้ ความเร็วเฉลี่ยของการตอบสนองของระบบจำนวนเฉลี่ยของปริมาณการส่งผ่านข้อมูล ซึ่งการเช่ารถออนไลน์เป็นระบบที่มีประสิทธิภาพสูงสุด รองลงมาคือการขายหนังสือออนไลน์และการประมูลสินค้าออนไลน์ตามลำดับ จากการวิจัยครั้งนี้มีข้อเสนอแนะว่าในการที่จะวัดประสิทธิภาพการทำงานของระบบใดๆ ให้ได้ความถูกต้องแม่นยำ ควรจะนำพฤติกรรมของลูกค้าจริง ๆ มาสร้างปริมาณรายการที่จะใช้ในการทดสอบ
