A comparative study of the quality of work life and organization commitment of civil servants and university staff : a case study of prince of Songkla University, Had Yai campus.
Abstract:
This was a study to compare the quality of work life and organization
commitment between civil servants and university staff. The aims of the research
were to study; 1) the individual characteristic factors affecting a quality of work life
and organization commitment; 2) to compare quality of work life and organization
commitment between academic civil servants and academic university staffs; 3) to
compare quality of work life and organization commitment between civil servant
support and university support staff. 4) to study the relationship between organization
and work performance factors of quality of work life and organization commitment
and; 5) to study the relationship between quality of work life and organization
commitment. The samples groups were 329 civil servants and university staff in
Prince of Songkla University, Hadyai Campus.
The results showed that; 1) education level, line of work, position level and
length of service influenced quality of work life and the faculty at which staff worked
influenced organization commitment; 2) There was a significant difference in quality
of work life between academic civil servants and academic university staff, but there
was no significant difference in organization commitment; 3) there was a significant
difference in quality of work life and organization commitment between supporting
civil servants and supporting university staff; 4) There were positive correlation
between organization and work performance and quality of work life, on the one
hand, and organization and work performance and organization commitment on the
other hand; 5) There was a positive correlation between quality of work life and
organization commitment.
