Abstract:
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the Buddhist thoughts in King Mongkuts writings, including his biography, works, behaviors, and principles based on his documents both in Pali and Thai from a total of 45 books and presented by description. The result reveals that King Mongkuts writings consist of four outstanding points; 1) an intention to present the right principles according to Tipitaka for the reader, 2) a strong belief in the Triple Gem and realization of the benefits of Nirvana which can lead to the end of sufferings absolutely, 3) a determination to focus on
screening of Dharma by the empirical study for the real life of Human prosperity, heavenly prosperity and successful attainment of Nirvana, 4) a presentation of new view points of Dharma in the terms of analyzing, synthesizing, applying, and reasoning, along with a presentation of the principals, the meaning and the goal which are mainly right according to Dharma and Vinaya (disciplines). The researcher suggests that a person with an interest in studying King Mongkuts thoughts should also profoundly investigate his royal thoughts in the letters written by his royal scribes and in the Act of Sangkha Registration as King Mongkuts thoughts in these documents could reflect his opinion related to religion, the Sangkha Administration, and the Sankhas regulation and Thai society.
