Abstract:
In this study, layers of MEH-PPV were fabricated and examined for electrical
and optical characteristics. One layer was prepared by spin-coating on glass slides
with Indium Tin Oxide (ITO). The optical absorption of MEH-PPV film prepared
using Xylene and 1,2-DCB solvents on glass slides showed maximum absorption
peaks at wavelengths of 493-499 and 488-493 nm, respectively. In order to measure
the electrical properties, the top electrode was coated with aluminum by evaporation
in the vacuum chamber with pressure below 5×10-6 millibar. Then the single layer
devices were studied at two MEH-PPV concentrations of 10 and 15 mg/ml. Solvents
used were 1,2-DCB and Xylene solution with spin-coating speeds of 1000, 2000,
3000, 4,000, 5000 rpm were used. The current voltage characteristics of all single
layer device exhibited an exponential curve and devices generated photocurrent by
absorption process. Maximum power output was observed in range 0.006-0.137
microwatts. Film Thickness of MEH-PPV films prepared from 1,2-DCB and Xylene
solution concentrations of 10 and 15 mg/ml were in the range of 97-421 nm and 94-
781 nm, respectively.
