A survey of ethical views of level VI students in primary schools under the office of Nakhon Pathom educational distric, region I
Abstract:
This research aimed to survey and compare ethical views of students who are
studying in the sixth level of elementary schools in the Region 1 under the
responsibility of the Office of Nakornpathom Educational District. Data were
collected with questionnaires that were given to 332 students lilted through the
multistage sampling method.
On the whole, the respondents’ ethical views are in the level of “agreeable”
( X = 2.90) with items in the four groups of ethical theories. The respondents found
items in the utilitarianist and kantian groups to be most agreeable (X = 3.47 and 3.27,
respectively). A statistical analysis with t-test shows that the difference between
students with different sex is not statistically significant at the level of .05, and oneway
analysis of variance shows that the differences between students with different
grade point average are not statistically significant at the level of .05.
It is recommended that four dimensions of morality (egoism, utilitarianism,
relativism and Kant’s theory) should be incorporated into a course on morality and
qualitative methods (such as in-depth interviews and focus groups) should be used in further
research on similar topic.
