Abstract: This research is an analysis of quality in an aspect of religious ethics, especially Brahmanism-Hinduism. A considerable amount of documents were analyzed: Primary documents - Phnom Rung Inscriptions and secondary documents - journals, printed material, related research, books of Phnom Rung Sandstone Sanctuary and scriptures of Brahmanism- Hinduism. The analysis of Phnom Rung Inscriptions, Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn’s thesis, Inscriptions Found at Phnom Rung Sandstone Sanctuary was analyzed as a guideline and Her Royal Highness’s translation was adopted. There are two main purposes of this research: (1) The analysis of ethical principles in Brahmanism-Hinduism; (2) The analysis of ethical values in Phnom Rung inscriptions. According to the first purpose, it was found that Brahmanism-Hinduism took part in the development of human society and civilized humans to have customs, traditions, ceremonies and religious beliefs that Brahma brought an end to the world and created humans. They also believed that Brahma established a foundation of values, merit, beauty and human destination- deliverance. Deliverance is the proper practices as a result of pure analysis that causes all creatures no troubles and focuses on giving benefits to the collective. All practices should be performed with loyalty to God’s teachings and mind should be controlled under the power of yoga practices. Furthermore, since Siva was worshiped as the great God, the Siva Sect was established. It was believed that Siva created and brought an end to the world. There were several practices in order to dedicate oneself to Siva who is sacred and more powerful than humans. A considerable amount of worship ceremonies to gods were practiced, for instance praying to gods to help humans and praising gods for peace and prosperity of human lives. According to the second purpose, ethical values were found in the inscription with registered number K. 384 which makes statements about morality of brave and talented rulers. As for the suggestions of the research, it was found that the rulers’ ethical values influenced the warriors’ power to protect their hometowns. Furthermore, the rulers were praised as worshiped gods and ceremonies were done to express loyalty to kings and gods that showed faith and gratitude. I suggest that society should support those who have proper morality to be good examples for society. Phnom Rung Inscriptions can be compared to a bright light that shows us the knowledge of past society in aspects of history, society, religion and ethical values concerning moral practices in the society that could be applied to living patterns in the society at present

Abstract: การศึกษาวิจัยนี้เป็นการศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพในประเด็นจริยศาสตร์ศาสนา ศึกษาเฉพาะศาสนาพราหมณ์- ฮินดู ซึ่งเป็นการศึกษาวิจัยเอกสาร จากเอกสารชั้นต้น คือ ศิลาจารึกพนมรุ้ง และเอกสารชั้นรอง คือ วารสาร, สิ่งพิมพ์, งานวิจัยที่เกี่ยวข้อง, หนังสือประสาทหินพนมรุ้ง และหนังสือศาสนาพราหมณ์-ฮินดู การศึกษาจารึกพนม รุ้งนั้นได้ศึกษาจากบทพระราชนิพนธ์เรื่องจารึกพบที่ปราสาทพนมรุ้ง โดยยึดคำ อ่านแปลของสมเด็จพระเทพรัตน ราชสุดา สยามบรมราชกุมารี เป็นหลักและการศึกษาวิจัยครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์ 2 ประการ คือ (1) ศึกษาหลัก จริยธรรมในศาสนาพรามหณ์-ฮินดู (2) ศึกษาวิเคราะห์คุณค่าทางจริยธรรมในจารึกพนมรุ้ง ผลการศึกษาตามวัตถุประสงค์ข้อที่หนึ่ง พบว่า ศาสนาพราหมณ์-ฮินดู มีส่วนพัฒนาให้สังคมมนุษย์ได้รับ อารยธรรมอันดีงามประกอบด้วย จารีต ประเพณี พิธีกรรมต่างๆ มากมาย และความเชื่อความศรัทธาในศาสนา ที่เชื่อว่า พระพรหม คือ ผู้สร้างโลก และสร้างมนุษย์ขึ้นมา พระองค์เป็นผู้ที่วางรากฐานทางคุณค่า ความดี ความ งาม และจุดหมายปลายทางแห่งความเป็นไปให้กับโลกมนุษย์ คือ หนทางแห่งความหลุดพ้นหรือโมกษะ คือ การ กำ หนดการปฏิบัติด้วยความรู้ชอบ เห็นชอบ อันเป็นผลจากการพิจารณาโดยบริสุทธิ์ ไม่ก่อความทุกข์ให้กับสรรพ สัตว์ใดๆ คือ มุ่งแต่การสร้างประโยชน์ดีงามต่อส่วนรวม มุ่งปฏิบัติในสิ่งทั้งหลายด้วยความจงรักภักดีต่อคำ สอน ของพระเจ้า และมุ่งฝึกปฏิบัติควบคุมจิตใจให้อยู่ภายใต้อำ นาจแห่งการบำ เพ็ญโยคะ นอกจากนี้ยังให้ความสำ คัญในการนับถือพระศิวะ หรือพระอิศวรเป็นเทพเจ้าสูงสุด จึงเกิดลัทธิไศวะ นิกายขึ้น ซึ่งเชื่อว่า พระศิวะเป็นเทพผู้สร้างโลกและทำ ลายโลก จึงมีวิธีปฏิบัติต่างๆ เพื่ออุทิศตนให้กับพระอิศวร ซึ่งเป็นเทพ ผู้ศักดิ์สิทธิ์และมีฤทธิ์อำ นาจเหนือมนุษย์ จึงมีพิธีบวงสรวง เทพเจ้าต่างๆ เกิดขึ้นมากมาย เช่น การสวด อ้อนวอนเทพเจ้าให้ ช่วยเหลือมนุษย์ หรือกล่าวคำ สรรเสริญบูชาเทพเจ้าต่างๆ เพื่อความสงบสุขและความเจริญ รุง่ เรืองในชีวิต ผลการศึกษาตามวัตถุประสงค์ข้อที่สอง พบว่า คุณค่าทางจริยธรรมในจารึกพนมรุ้ง K. 384 กล่าวถึง คุณค่าทาง จริยธรรมของผู้ปกครองที่มีความกล้าหาญ และความสามารถในการรบ ส่งผลถึงพลังอานุภาพของ นักรบที่จะปกป้องบ้านเมืองได้ นอกจากนี้ ยังกล่าวยกย่องสรรเสริญกษัตริย์เทียบเท่ากับเทพเจ้าที่เคารพบูชาและยัง มีพิธีกรรมแสดงความจงรักภักดีต่อกษัตริย์และเทพเจ้าต่างๆ ซึ่งแสดงถึงความศรัทธา ความกตัญญู ฯลฯ ผู้เสนองานวิจัยครั้งนี้มีข้อเสนอแนะว่า สังคมควรยกย่องส่งเสริมผู้มีจริยธรรมอันดีงาม เพื่อเป็นแบบ อย่างที่ดีแก่สังคม และจารึกพนมรุ้งเปรียบดั่งดวงประทีปที่ส่องสว่าง ทำ ให้ทราบถึงภูมิปัญญาไทยในสังคมอดีต ในด้านประวัติศาสตร์ สังคม ศาสนา และคุณค่าทางจริยธรรมที่เกี่ยวกับความประพฤติที่ดีงามในสังคมนั้นๆ แล้ว นำ มาเป็นแบบแผนในการดำ เนินชีวิต เพื่อมาประยุกต์ใช้ในสังคมปัจจุบัน
