Abstract:
This study is ethnographic research on a particular and retrospective case. The objective was to create an understanding of the belief system and pattern of self-care practices of rural menopausal women. The subjects were 30 menopausal females in three groups. Data was collected over three months by interviewing menopausal women and key informants in the village, i.e. particular and non- particular observation. The results found that rural menopausal women define their belief system of blood and menopausal syndrome in a variety of ways. The research has shown the socio-cultural factors influencing selfcare practices. The folk sector, with a culture of self-care practices, makes people care about themselves. The self-care practices of rural menopausal women depends on the popular sector, folk sector, professional sector and experience of the social network. The results of the research lead to suggestions about health promotion and counseling services to all menopausal women, especially rural menopausal women, through creating a correct understanding about their belief systems and providing enough information and appropriate self choices to women who have decided to self-care for themselves because their beliefs. Besides, this the results help to promote setting up an organization to help rural menopausal women to walk through the crisis stage to reach a healthy old age in the future"
