Factors affecting self-protection behavior from noise pollution by officers of Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited
Abstract:
This study was intended as a survey research to study factors affecting selfprotection
behavior from noise pollution by officers of Airports of Thailand Public
Company Limited and to study the relationship of other factors affecting Selfprotection
among the officers of Airports of Thailand from noise pollution, totaling
215 officers. Data were gathered by requesting the officers to respond to
questionnaires between September and October 2002. Data analysis was
performed by statistical tools such as percentage and hierarchical regression
analysis.
The results of this study revealed that the officers of Airports of Thailand
Public Company Limited retained the level of self-protection behavior from noise
pollution lower than 45.6%. Factors that positively related to self-protection
behavior, having statistically significant differences were: attitude, perception,
distance from the workplace to the airport runways and number of daily working
hours. Factors that negatively related to self- protection behavior, having
statistically significant differences were: length of work, rules, regulations and
orders of superiors. Analysis of factors explaining the variation of variables
affecting self-protection behavior from noise pollution by officers of Airports of
Thailand Public Company Limited gave the percentage at 23.5%.
Recommendations from these findings are to promote training, public
relations and perception of danger from non-used of noise protection equipment by
officers of Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited.
