Abstract:
This research survey aimed to study child servants' rights, and ethical views on the
violation of a child servants’ rights, in Bangkok. Data were collected by a questionnaire given to
400 people randomly sampled from the population in Bangkok.
According to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child; child servants should be given
certain basic rights; that is the right to survival, the right to protection, the right to development,
and the right to participation.
According to the survey results, there are 5 forms of violation of a child servants' rights : 1)
physical abuse 2) mental abuse 3) sexual abuse 4) unfair payment and 5) denied access to
information. Most of the samples were in a high disagreement on all forms of violation.
Therefore, to a certain degree, it can be concluded that this sample group has a fair knowledge and
understanding about the rights, and child servants' rights, particularly.
It is suggested that a campaign should be promoted to enhance public awareness of child
servants' rights so that they can cooperate in helping to eliminate the violation of child servants'
rights.
