The study of readiness in instructional methods in teaching music for character development learning experiences of teachers in the elementary schools in Kalasin province
Abstract:
The objective of the study was to study the readiness for instructional method in
teaching music for character development by learning experiences of the teachers in the
elementary schools in Kalasin province in academic year 2002. The study was survey research
and a questionnaire was used for collecting primary data. Mean, standard deviation, and t-test
parametric were used for the analysis and the hypothesis of the studies.
The results of the study are as follows 1) the level of readiness in instructional
method in teaching music for character development by learning experiences of teachers in the
elementary schools in Kalasin province was low ( x = 1.48). When considering in each aspect
it show that music curriculum, learning activity, multimedia and learning instruments,
measuring, and assessment were low, approximately x = 1.45, x = 1.50, x = 1.48 and
x = 1.47 by respectively.
2) The teachers who held degree in Music Education had a higher level of
readiness in the overview of the four aspects than the teachers who did not hold a degree in
Music Education which was statistically significant at the 0.01 level (P<0.01).
3) The teachers who held a degree in Music Education in the group of teaching
music for character development by learning experiences had a higher level of readiness for
the music curriculum than the teachers who did not hold degrees in Music Education which
was statistically significant at the 0.01 level (P<0.01).
4) The teachers who held degrees in Music Education in the group of teaching
music for character development by learning experiences had higher levels of readiness in
teaching management in activities than the teachers who did not hold degrees in Music
Education which was statistically significant at the 0.01 level (P<0.01).
5) The teachers who held degrees in Music Education in the group of teaching
music for character development by learning experiences had higher levels of readiness in
teaching management by using multimedia and instruments for musical learning than the
teachers who did not hold a degree in Music Education which was statistically significant at
the 0.01 level (P<0.01) and finally,
6) The teachers who held a degree in Music Education in the group of teaching
music for character development by learning experiences had higher levels of readiness in
measurement and assessment than the teachers who did not hold degrees in Music Education
which was statistically significant at the 0.01 level (P<0.01).
