Abstract:
The objective of this research was to study background information, concepts of a
radio drama program, working processes, styles of a radio drama program, content, and
language styles. This research also analyzes the styles of the radio drama program
“Majjurach Tee Mong Mai Hen Tou” which is media for development. The information
used in this research comes from cassette tapes which were used to compile radio drama
scripts from 50 episodes and interviews with 10 people associated with the radio drama
program.
The result of the study showed that the program can be separated into 3 periods,
which are, first period (1965-1985), second period (1987-1995), and third period (1997-
present). The styles and working processes of the program are: 1) Theme. The theme is
separated into 2 categories – presentation styles and continuation of the program’s contents.
2) Source of radio drama scripts and 3) The radio drama program’s staff members. The
contents of the program are cultural issues and media for development issues. Language
styles used in the program are verbal and non-verbal language. The results from the
analysis of the styles of the radio drama program as media for development were 1) The
objectives of development communication 2) Communicators are local people 3) Content
presentation 4) Communication styles 5) Participation of local people and 6) The status of
the radio program under government control.
In order to make this study more complete a quantitative research about the effects
on listeners should be made.
