An information system for significant population indicators : a case study of eight provices in the Thachin and Mae Klong basin

Abstract: The objectives of this research were as follows: 1) to study the process of creating an information system, 2) to demonstrate the key population indicators in eight provinces along the Thachin and Mae Klong Basin by implementing the information system to study the demographics of the area’s population and to track changes in their characteristics. Microsoft FrontPage XP, Macromedia Dreamweaver 4.0 and ASP were used for generating HTML scripts and coding website applications. The website layout included these main components of population: 1) Fertility, 2) Mortality, 3) Migration, 4) Population Age-Sex distribution, and 5) Some other important population indexes. After the website was implemented and tested, it was found that the system could keep and import information and show it in table and graph formats. Therefore, it was easy and quick for the specialists to use and for them to analyze the information. However, the data importing function and the database creation program need to be improved."

Abstract: การศึกษาวิจัยครั้งนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาการสร้างระบบสารสนเทศและ 2) เพื่อสร้างระบบสารสนเทศสำหรับการแสดงดัชนีชี้วัดที่สำคัญด้านประชากรของพื้นที่ 8 จังหวัดในลุ่มน้ำท่าจีนและแม่กลอง สำหรับให้ความรู้ด้านประชากรกับผู้เยี่ยมชมทั่วไป รวมถึงการเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลทางด้านประชากรในพื้นที่เพื่อแสดงสถานภาพ ตลอดจนการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางด้านประชากรในพื้นที่ ทั้งในส่วนของภาวะเจริญพันธุ์, การตาย, การย้ายถิ่น, การกระจายประชากรแยกตามอายุและเพศและดัชนีที่สำคัญทางประชากรบางตัวระบบสารสนเทศเพื่อแสดงดัชนีชี้วัดที่สำคัญทางด้านประชากร, กรณีศึกษา: พื้นที่ 8 จังหวัดในลุ่มน้ำท่าจีนและแม่กลองถูกออกแบบให้อยู่ในรูปของเว็บไซท์ ซึ่งเว็บไซท์ดังกล่าวถูกออกแบบและสร้างโดยการใช้โปรแกรม Microsoft FrontPage XP, Macromedia Dreamweaver 4.0 ร่วมกับภาษา ASP และใช้ฐานข้อมูลในรูปแบบ Microsoft Access XP จากการศึกษาพบว่าระบบมีความถูกต้องในการเก็บ การแสดงข้อมูลและการเพิ่มข้อมูลใหม่ โดยการแสดงออกมาในรูปของตารางและกราฟ ซึ่งทำให้นักประชากรศาสตร์สามารถเรียกดูและนำไปใช้ได้อย่างรวดเร็ว สะดวกและง่ายต่อการวิเคราะห์แต่อย่างไรก็ตามระบบควรปรับปรุงในส่วนของการนำเข้าข้อมูลและโปรแกรมที่ใช้สร้างฐานข้อมูลเพื่อเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพในการใช้งาน"
