Abstract:
The objectives of this research were to study the counseling behavior of fortune-tellers and clients opinion about fortune-tellers. A sample consisted of 10 fortune-tellers and 30 clients from 3 associations, the Astrological Association of Thailand Under The Patronage of Her Majesty The Queen, The Federation of Astrologers and Thai Traditional Medicine Association and The International Astrological Association. The qualitative approaches were used to collect and analyze data. The study showed that most effective non-verbal counseling behaviors of fortune-tellers were welcome behavior, attending behavior, openness behavior and smooth termination. However, opening discussion, asking clients need behavior, using counseling technique and privacy were low in proficiency. In addition, most clients were satisfied with the service. The study recommends that fortune-tellers should promote general psychology, observation and evaluating mental condition of clients and train fortunetellers about counseling by emphasizing on behaviors that have importance such as creating good relationship, two-way communication, using counseling techniques and behavior that showed attention of SOLER rules that behaviors integrate with fortunetellers astrological knowledge for helping clients."
