Abstract:
The objective of this cross-sectional survey research is to study factors affecting role performance in nuisance management by local officials. The four main factors were composed of demographic characteristics, perception, social support and motivation. A total of 101 local officials in Nakhonpathom province were the studied population. Data collections were processed through mail, 81 questionnaires (80.1%) were returned. Pearsons product moment correlation and stepwise multiple regression were applied for data analysis. Results showed that local officials performed nuisance management at a moderate and high level (43.2% and 51.9%, respectively). Most of them (71.6%) had high level of perception and 51.9% of them had high level of motivation while a large amount held moderate level of social support (63.0%). Demographic characteristics were not correlated to role performance of local officials. Factors significantly relating to overall role performance in nuisance management are perception on managing, issuing a written order, ceasing nuisance, fining and social support (p< 0.05). Perception on nuisance management and social support were two major factors that can calculate role performance of local officials with a prediction power of 33.2%. It is recommending that the supports of man power, materials, staff training for nuisance management, with essential contents of the Public Health Act, and nuisance situations, as well as network connection should be provided in order to facilitate nuisance management of local officials.
