Abstract:
The objective of the study was the examine the relationship between the need hierarchy and work ethics: a case study of the Kamphaengphet sugar factory. The research examined the employees attitudes towards need variables and attempted to study their work ethics. Its purpose was also to determine the relationship between the need hierarchy and work ethics and determine if the findings corresponded with the problem of raw sugar color quality control. The test instrument was a set of questionnaires consisting of three parts. Part one was about the demographics of respondents. Part two was the twenty descriptive statements of the need hierarchy. Part three was the descriptive statements of the work ethics. The sample consisted of 503 employees. The data were analyzed by using the computer program package for Windows. Statistics use for data analysis are mean, percentage, standard deviation, F-test, t-test and Pearsons Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The results indicate that : 1) The need hierarchy of employees are at the moderate level. Belongingness and love needs are the most important. 2) Work ethics are at the high level. 3) The relationship between the need hierarchy and work ethics are at the moderate level. The statistical value of reliability is at P = 0.05. The findings suggest that 1) the factory should promote friendship and co-operation among workers, 2) the factory should increase incentives such as rewards, 3) the factory should give employees an opportunity to participate in management, 4) the factory should provide knowledge about work ethics to all workers.
