THE PARTICIPATION OF LOCAL WISDOM INSTRUCTORS IN LOCAL CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT OF SCHOOLS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE OFFICE OF SAKAEO EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA 1
Abstract:
The purposes of this study were (1) to study and (2) to compare the opinions of the local wisdom instructors and the administrators towards the participation of local wisdom instructors in the local curriculum development of schools in the stated area.
The population in this study was 1,226. There were 626 administrators consisting of directors of educational institutes, academic heads, heads of each level (4 levels in the whale curriculum) and 600 local wisdom instructors participation in the local curriculum development and registered at the Jurisdiction of the Office of Sakaeo Educational Service Area 1
The sample consisted of 154 administrators and 148 local wisdom instructors The instrument was a questionnaire. The data were analyzed by using percentage, mean, standard deviation and t test independent.
The findings were as follows:
1. The local wisdom instructors thought that the participation of the local wisdom instructors in the local curriculum development of schools was overall at the medium level. On the other hand the administrators considered that it was at the high level. Considering each aspect, it was found that :
1.1 in the decision aspect, the local wisdom instructors thought that it was at the medium level while the administrators considered that it was at the high level,
1.2 in the process aspect, the local wisdom instructors thought that it was at the low level while the administrators considered that it was at the medium level,
1.3 in the benefit aspect, the two groups agreed that the participation was at the medium level,
1.4 in the evaluation level, the two groups agreed that the participation was at the medium level,
2. The opinions of the local wisdom instructors and the administrators towards the participation in the total aspect and in each aspect were significantly different at the level of .05.
From the results of the study, the local wisdom instructors thought that the participation of the local wisdom instructors in the local curriculum development was at the low level; therefore, the institutes should improve this process in order that the local wisdom instructors will participate the curriculum development at the higher level.
