Abstract:
The purposes of this study were to determine and to compare the opinions of Bangkok's chemistry teachers and the upper secondary school students on chemistry teachers competencies with expected and real situation. The sample of this study were 180 chemistry teachers and 380 students at the upper secondary school level of 2000S academic year. The instruments used in this study were the questionnaires with 5 rating scale level asking about the chemistry teacher competencies in (1) knowledge of content of chemistry, (2) management of learning, (3) skills in the laboratory, (4) measurement and evaluations, (5) human relationship and (6) personality. The reliability of questionnaires for chemistry teacher on the expected was 0.99 and on the real situation was 0.97. The reliability of questionnaires for the upper secondary school on the expected was 0.97 and on the real situation was 0.97. The results of the study were: 1. The totally expected opinions of Bangkok's chemistry teacher on chemistry teacher competencies was highest level at 4.54. 2. The totally real situation opinions of Bangkok's chemistry teacher on chemistry teacher competencies was high level at 3.89. 3. The totally expected opinions of students at the upper secondary school in Bangkok on chemistry teacher competencies was high level at 4.41. 4. The totally real situation opinions of students at the upper secondary school in Bangkok on chemistry teacher competencies was high level at 3.59. 5. The opinions of Bangkok chemistry teachers on chemistry teacher competencies of expected was statistically higher than real situation at the .05 level of significance. 6. The opinions of students at the upper secondary school in Bangkok on chemistry teacher competencies of expected was statistically higher than real situation at the .05 level of significance.
