Abstract:
Diversity of Thraustochytrids isolated from fallen leavens of 5 mangrove trees collected from Bang Khun Thean, Bangkok was studied. Four species from 893 isolates of Thraustochytrids were found, namely, Schizochytrium mangrovel, Schizochytrium limacinum, Schizochytrium sp. 2 and Ulkenia visurgensis. Whereas Schizochytrium mangrovie was the predominant species. The highest percentage of occurrence found in the leaves of Brugueira gymnorrhiza (86.66 percent), and the lowest was from Thespesia populnea leaves (40 percent). The brown color of leave showed significantly higher percentage of occurrence (79 percent) than that of yellow ones (49.28 percent). The November samples had the highest percentage of occurrence (69.54 percent, 334 isolates) followed by July was 64.5 percent (318 isolates) and March was the lowest (60 percent, 241 isolates).
