Abstract: ศึกษาการแพร่กระจายและความชุมชุมของแพลงก์ตอนสัตว์บริเวณชายฝั่งทะเลภาคตะวันออกในเดือนมีนาคม 2547 (ฤดูแล้ง) และในเดือนสิงหาคม 2547 (ฤดูฝน) พบแพลงก์ตอนสัตว์ทั้งสิ้น 15 ไฟลัม 41 กลุ่ม ในฤดูแล้งมีความชุกชุมของแพลงก์ตอนสัตว์มากกว่าฤดูฝน โดยมีไฟลัม Arthropoda เป็นชนิดเด่น รองลงมาคือ Chordata และ Mollusca ตามลำดับ ส่วนในฤดูฝนแพลงก์ตอนสัตว์ที่ชุกชุมเป็นชนิดเด่นได้แก่ ไฟลัม Protozoa รองลงมาคือ Chordata และ Arthropoda ตามลำดับ ส่วนโคพีพอดในฤดูแล้งพบ 4 อันดับย่อย 39 ชนิด อันดับย่อยที่พบได้แก่ Calanoida, Cyclopoida, Harpacticoida และ Poecilostomatoida ชนิดของโคพีพอดที่เป็นชนิดเด่นในฤดูแล้งได้แก่ Paracalanus crassirostris, Oithona aruensis, Bestiolina similis และ Oithona simplex ตามลำดับ ในฤดูฝนชนิดที่พบมากที่สุดได้แก่ Acartia plumosa, Oithona aruensis, Paracalanus crassirostris และ Euterpina acutifrons ตามลำดับ นอกจากนี้ในการศึกษาครั้งนี้พบโคพีพอดชนิดใหม่ของโลก 1 ชนิด คือ Pseudodiaptomus sp. ในฤดูฝนจากบริเวณปากแม่น้ำประแสร์ จังหวัดระยอง

Abstract: Distribution and abundance of zooplankton along the Eastern Coast of Thailand were investigated in March 2004 (dry season) and August 2004 (wet season). Fifteen phylum belonging to 41 groups of zooplankton were found. The abundance of zooplankton was greater in the dry season than that in wet season. Arthropoda was the dominant taxon found in the dry season, followed by Chordata and Mollusca respectively. In the wet season, the dominant phylum of zooplankton found were Protozoa, followed by Chordata and Arthropoda, respectively. The copepods found in the dry season were 39 species of 4 suborder such as Calanoida, Cyclopoida, Harpacticoida and Poecilostomatoida. Paracalanus crassirostris, Oithona aruensis, Bestiolina similis and Oithona simplex were dominant species in the dry seasons. While Acartia plumosa, Oithona aruensis, Paracalanus crassirostris and Euterpina acutifrons were mostly found in the wet season.In addition, a new species of copepod, Pseudodiaptomus sp. was found in the wet season from the Prasae River Estuary, Rayong Province.
