Abstract:
The purpose of this researh were to study the quality of life the elderty in objective scale, sujective scale and comparison of the quality of life of the elderly. The ample, derived by means of clustering sampling, consisted of 276 elderly people in Chantaburi province who were between 60-74 years old. The data were collected by interviews and analysed by using the SPSS/PC+ programme to establish the frequency, percentages, independent t-test and oneway ANOVA The findings were most of the elderly were totally independent in managing daily life activities. Their general physical problems were related to joint pain, low back pain, tooth and gum symptoms, and constipation. The diseases mostly found were hypertension, eyes, musculo skeletal, and joint diseases. They participated very little with other people. Most of them had low-level income, less than 3,000 baht per month. Although the environment was good, they used low public welfare and had normal mental state at 35%. 49% of them sometimes had anxiety ; 40% had no depression. 6% of them had high satisfaction in all aspects of life, while 23% had a low level of satisfaction and 8% had no satisfaction about economic status. The results of hypothesis test finding : The personal factors that caused statistically significant difference in the quality of life of the elderly were sex, age, education, marital status, being a member of elderly social clubs, and household relationship.
