Abstract:
Comparative study on yield of indoor cultivation of Volvariella volvacea was carried out on difference substrates, cotton waste, paddy straw, water hyacinth, and banana pseudostems with nutritional supplements, bran, pounded dry horse-tamarind leaves, and rice flour, in the ratio of substrates : nutritional supplements : lime = 100 : 5 : 1 by weight respectively. The mushroom were cultivated at 28-32 C and 85-95% relative humidity for eleven days. The experiment revealed that the mixture between cotton waste and bran gave the highest yield and the inferior yield was form that between paddy straw and rice flour, those gave average fresh-weight 1.182, 1.131 and 1.057 kg/m2respectively. The treatment cultured on the mixture of water hyacinth, banana pseudostems and pounded dry horse-tamarind leaves only gave the high yield, 0.510 kg/m2, which was significantly different form the yields of the mixture of cotton waste, bran and that of paddy straw and rice flour. The yield form the mixture of cotton waste were significantly different. from that of water hyacinth, banana pseudostems, and bran and that of water hyacinth and pounded horse-tamarind leaves. There were no significant difference form the yield of other treatments, but the yield of mixture between paddy straw and rice flour was rather high.
