Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the desirable administrative behavior of the changwat educationa superintendents in southern Thailand as perceived by amphoe educational superintendents, changwat educational supervisors, and government secondary school principals and to compare the views of these three groups regarding this desirable administrative behavior. The sample population consisted of 235 randomly selected amphoe educational superintendents, Changwat educational supervisors, and government secondary school principals in 14 provinces. Data were obtained by menas of a rating-scale type questionnaire on desirable administrative behavior constructed by the investigator and then analyzed for averages, using the F-test to test the hypothesis.The results of the study showed that all of the sample population groups rated the 65 areas of desirable administrative behavior of the Changwat educational superintendents included in the questionnaire (1) at a high level concerning public relations and dissemination of information on developments and progress in education to the public, implementation of the Ministry of Education's policies in a manner suitable for Changwat and local conditions, promotion of school exhibitions and other activities in which allowed the community to participate, and just consideration of school personnel promotion based on a merit system and (2) on an awerage in regard to stimulation and encouragement of school staff to write textbooks and undertake research on newel topics, participation in the activities of local social groups and clubs, and fund raising from the community to support and promote local education. There were no significant differences in the way the amphoe educational superintendents, the Changwat educational supervisors, and the government secondary school principals percaived the desirable administrative behavior of the changwat educational superintendents with respect to academic affairs, personnel, business and finance, and community relations.
