Abstract:
The purpose of the study was todevelop a suplementary reading on Wildlife Conservation for Prathom Suksa 4 students, to evaluate the supplementary reading on Wildlife Conservation for prathom Suksa 4 students by the experts, to compare the learning achievement of the Prathom Suksa 4 students before and after reading the supplementary reading on wildlife conservation and to compare the learning achievement of the students in the experimental group who read the supplementary reading and the control group who did not read the book. Learning cchievement test containing 30 multiple choice with 4 altermatives, was used for the evaluation of their learning achievement. The reliability of the test was 0.85. The sample of the study derived by means of cluster sampling, consisted of 60 Prathom Suksa 4 students studying in the first semester of the academic year 1992 at choomchon Bansuan Udom Wittaya School, Amphoe Muang, Chon Buri. This sample was divided into experimental and controlgroups with thirty students in each group. Nonrandomized control group pretest and posttest design was used. The data were analyzed by means of t-test and Z-test. The experiment was 4 days, an hour a day. Both the experimental and control groups were pretested, in order to compare their basic knowledge about wildilife conservation. No significant difference was found. Then, the experimental group was assigned to read the supplementary reading on Wildlife Conservation. After that, both the experimental and control groups were posttested. the results showed that the learning achievement in the experimental group after reading the supplementary reading on Wildlife Conservation was significantly higher than that befor reading at the statistical level of .01. And the learning achievement of the students in the experimental group who read the supplementary reading on Wildlife Conservation was significantly higher than those in the control group who did not read the book at the statistical level of .01.
