Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to study existing situations and problems in administration of Thai Farmers Bank Branch administrations in the Eastern Region in the seven following areas, namely ; planing, organizing, staffing, directing, coordinating, reporting and budgeting, and also to compare such existing situations and problems according to the administrations' positions and work experiences.The sample used in this study consisted of 56 branch administrators which included 28 branch managers and 28 assistant branch managers. The research instrument was a 52 item, 5-level rating scale questionnaire on administrative process based on the Gulick-Urwick theory. The statistics used for data analysis were arithmetic mean and standard deviation.The result of this research showed that Thai Farmers Bank branch administrators, in general, administer their offices at a moderate level. When considering by areas, it was found that all were at a moderate level, and the average ranging from high to low were as follows : organizing, coordinating, reporting, directing, budgeting, planning and staffing. The problems in administration were also found of being at a moderate level. When considering by areas, they were found of being at a moderate level, and the average ranging from high to low were budgeting, planning, directing, staffing, coordinating and reporting. One area which had problems of administration at a low level was organizing.When existing situations and problems in administration of Thai Farmers Bank branch administrators in the Eastern Region were compared, it was found that branch managers' administration was at a medium level in all areas. While those of branch assistant managers in the area of directing, was at a high level, and in the six other areas were at a moderate level. Branch administrators with different work experiences (more or less than 3 years) had similar existing situations and problems in administration, and they were at a moderate level.As the consequence of the research, it is recommended that Thai Farmers Bank branch administrators in the Eastern Region increase measures to motivate staff to work more efficiently, and should add more communication equipment in order to coordinate more closely with the bank's head office.In addition, brance administrators should study rules and regulations of the bank more regularly in oder to administrater the branches more efficiently.
