Abstract:
The objective of this study was to evaluate the fate of tributyltin TBT ,dibutyltin DBT and monobutyltin MBT in water and sediments collected from the coastal area in Chonburi . The experiment was studied under controlled laboratary conditions by using the glass tank with 30 30 60 cm. TBT DBT MBT was spiked in the experimental tank and was later detected as TBT DBT MBT in water and sediments after incubation for 77 days. The obtained resuklt showed that the water quality was not affected by the addition of TBT ,DBT and MBT at the concerntration of 5 and 10 ug/L ,compareed to the criteria of Pollution Control DepAartment. TBT DBT and MBT were degraded in water within .08 days in all tank as spiked with both 5 and 10 ug/l but the primary added substrate and its matabilites were still detected in marine water at the end of the experiment . Higher concentration of added TBT DBT and MBT in water resulted in higher accumulation of TBT and its derivatives in the water sample ,expect DBT .The a ccumulation of TBT DBT MBT in sediments bioth aerobic and anaerobic was found within .08 days similarly in water . The accumulated level of TBT DBT MBT in the sediment were statiisticallysignificant p<.05 higher than those in the water for both concentrations. However ,the pollutants were finally degraded into very low concentration and were still detected for primary substate and metabolites in anaerobic sediment more than in aerobic sediments until the end of the experiment. There was no significant difference in the accumulated le vel amoung them.
