Abstract:
The purposes of this study was to evaluate the effects of auxin and cytokinin concentrations on morphogenesis of Curculigo capitulata . Young shoot explants were cultured on Murashige and Skoog medium supplemented with different concentrations of NAA (0,0.5,1,2 or 3 mg/l) and BA (0,1,3,6 or 9 mg/l) or 2,4-d (0,1,2 or 3 mg/l)and kinetin (0,1 or 2 mg/l). Morphological study was done under light microscope. Two-way ANOVA was used to analyze the number of shoots or embryos derived from the explants and the significant means were separated by means of Newman Keuls and LSD methods. The morphological study showed that NAA in combination with BA promoted organogenesis ,whereas 2 ,4-D alone promoted embryogenesis. ANOVA indicated that multiple shoots formation was influenced by NAA and BA. The combination of 1 or 2 mg/l of NAA and 9 mg/l of BA yielded the best result. the addition of only kinetin or in combination with 2,4-D had no effect on embryogenesis.
