Abstract:
The purposes of this study were 1) to compare the health related physical fitness of the group participating in Thai traditional games and sports with the group who received regular activities and 2) to compare the satisfaction of the group participating in Thai traditional games and sports with the group who received regular activities. Fourty students at second level primary school of Khunin group whose ages range from 10 - 12 years old were purposively sampled as the subjects. The completed samples were divided as the experimental group and the control group with 20 students for each. The experimental group were given Thai Traditional games and sports while the control group played regular activites. The duration lasted 8 weeks with 3 days per week and one hour each day. The instruments were : 1) Thai traditional games and sports program 2) Health-Related physical fitness test consisted of 7 items : Body Mass Index : BMI, Skinfold Thickness, Sit - up 60 Seconds, Push - ups 30 Seconds, Sit and Reach, Zig - Zag Run and Distance Run 3) The activities Satisfaction questionaire. The collected data was analyzed using means, standard deviation and t - test.
The results were as follows : The health related physical fitness for Sit - ups 60 Seconds, Sit and Reach, Zig - Zag Run and Distance Run between two groups were significantly different at 0.01 level but Body Mass Index : BMI, Skinfold Thickness and Push - Up 30 Seconds between two groups were not different. The satisfaction levels between two groups were significantly different at 0.01 level.
