มักกะสัน = Quality of life according to sufficiency economy and quality of work life of employees in the state railway of Thailand case study of employee in Makkasan workshop
Abstract:
This research on Quality of Life According to Sufficiency Economy and Quality of Work Life of SRTs Employees (Makasan Plant Staff Only) was aimed to study the qualities of life and work life of those employees, find the relation between their quality of life according to Sufficiency Economy and their quality of work life, as well as to look at their qualities of life and work life classified by personal factors. The questionnaire was used as a tool to gather the information from a sample group consisting of 330 employees (Makasan Plant Staff Only).
Findings : The respondents are mostly males. Of the total respondents, 125 are aged between 51 and up. 171 have the academic qualifications ranging from high school to vocational certificate of education (VCE), 243 are married, 152 earn the monthly income of Baht 25,001, 88 have the positions at the C5-level, and 214 have served SRT for more than 13 years. Their practices towards the Quality of Life, in overall picture, according to Sufficiency Economy have been considerably established. Their satisfaction towards the Quality of Work Life, in overall picture, was high. The research found the existence of relation between their Quality of Life according to Sufficiency Economy and their Qualify of Work Life. Certain personal factors of each individual such as sex, age, educational background, marital status and monthly income made difference in the levels of the Quality of Life according to Sufficiency Economy. On the contrary, certain personal factors of each individual such as position class and service year made no difference in the levels of the Quality of Life according to Sufficiency Economy. Similarly, no difference in the levels of the Quality of Work Life was made by certain personal factors of each individual such as sex, age, educational background, marital status, monthly income, position class, and service year.
Recommendations : It is advisable that an awareness-raising campaign should be organized to advise and encourage SRTs employees to live by the principles of the philosophy of Sufficiency Economy and to instruct them on bookkeeping and money - saving plans for the future, additionally; a training course on moral and ethical aspects should be provided to enhance the employees Quality of Life according to Sufficiency Economy. As for the Quality of Work Life of SRTs employees, the following areas should be improved, including Remuneration, Safety Standards and Work Environment, and group activities should be organized to build rapport and instill a sense of teamwork.
