The Development of the Guidelines for the Matayom 3 Students to Learn about the Environment of the Development and Conservation of Wildlife Center at Khao Pra Taew National Park in Phuket Province
Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to investigate the ecological system of the rainforests at the Development and Conservation of Wildlife Center at Khao Pra Taew National Park in Phuket Province, to develop the guidelines for the Matayom 3 students at Mueng Thalang School to study the environment of the forests at Khao Pra Taew National Park, and to study the level of efficiency of the manuals and the students satisfaction toward these guidelines.
Regarding the environmental science, the researcher studied the types and importance value of the local plants in this forest. There were 84 types of plants belonging to 37 species. The study ranked 10 plants in order of importance using a value index as follows: Shorea rogersiana Raiz. & Smit (23.61), Intsia palembanica Miq. (18.90), Hopea ferrea Laness. (14.99), Streblus ilicifolius (Vidal) Corner (14.79), Diospyros hermaphroditica (Zoll.) Bakh. (13.31), Dialium platysepalum Bak. (12.38), Hopea odorata Roxb. (12.18), Tetrameles nudiflora R. Br (10.72), Knema globularia (Lamk.) Warb. (9.00), and Alstonia scholaris (L.) R Br. (7.95).
Regarding environmental education, the researcher developed the guidelines to study the forests of Kho Pra Taew National Park, and used them with 30 Matayom 3 students at Mueng Thalang School. The data was analyzed by using percentage, means and t-test. The results of the study revealed that after using the guidelines, the students level of the understanding, attitudes, and awareness to conserve the community forests had increased greatly at a .99 level of reliability. In addition, the level of satisfaction of the students with these guidelines was found at a high level (72.00%).
