Abstract:
The purposes of this research were to study the coastal birds in the Koh Pee area, to develop the handbook for the students for bird watching, to test the effectiveness of the handbook, and to evaluate the level of satisfaction of the students towards this handbook.
The environmental study aimed to study the birds living in this coastal area. There were 15 families and of 30 types of birds found in this area. However, the number of birds varies from each month. The months with the highest number of birds found are December (28 types), and November (20 types). The month with the least number of birds found is October (18 types). The most common type of birds included White- vented Myna, Common Myna, and Egretta Garzetta.
Regarding environmental education, the researcher studied 30 students who were studying in
level 3 at Chalermprakiat Somdet Prasrinakarin Phuket School. The handbook for bird watching was created by the researcher. Data was collected and results were analysed and presented in the forms of percentage, means and t-test. It was found that the hand book could increase the knowledge, understanding, awareness and create a positive attitude with the students towards the preservation of the coastal birds at the level of reliability of 95% . Regarding the participants satisfaction with the bird watching handbook, the researcher found that the students had a high level of satisfaction at 73%.
