Abstract:
The purposes of this research were 1) to investigate the ecological system of the 165 rais of the mangrove forests at KuKu village Moo 3, Ratsada Sub-district, Mueng District in Phuket Province, 2) to develop the training guidelines for the Prathom 6 students based on environmental education ,and 3) to study the level of satisfaction of the students with the manuals.
Regarding the environmental science, the researcher studied the types and importance value of the local plants in this forest. The study ranked the plants in order of importance using a value index as follows: Rhizophora apiculata (111.06), Ceriops tagal (71.97), and Excoecaria agallocha (40.48). The plants which was found least important based on the value index was Sonneratia alba (0.57). There were 11 types of plants found in this area as follows: Rhizophora apiculata, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza. Ceriops tagal. Bruguiera cylindrical. Bruguiera parviflora. Xylocapus granatum. Xylocapus moluccensis. Avicennia officinalis. Excoecaria agallocha. Heritiera littoralis. and Sonneratia alba. Regarding environmental education, the researcher developed the guidelines to study the mangrove forest ecological system, and used them with 20 Prathom 6 students at Ban KuKu School. The data was analyzed by using percentage, means and t-test. The results of the study revealed that after using the guidelines, the students level of the understanding, attitudes, and awareness to conserve the mangrove forests had increased greatly at a .95 level of reliability. In addition, the level of satisfaction of the students with these guidelines was found at a high level.
